Shout Out to My Peeps

We've had so much support over the past couple weeks, and to those of you who have lent a helping hand, we can't thank you enough. First and foremost, our families have been incredible. Without their help and encouragement, things would have been a lot different. In that first week we forgot there was a meal in the morning called breakfast, I'm sure our dog forgot who we were, and we basically forgot life existed beyond the upper floor of our home (the trodden carpet path from our room to Eli's is proof of that). Our families kept us sane, and for that, we love and thank you :)

Our friends have also been so wonderful. I don't know if other families have trouble with the "what would you like for dinner?" question, but whenever it is asked of me, I find it very stressful to come up with an answer. Our friends and family have very graciously lifted that burden these past few weeks, and for that, we are so thankful.

So here's little Eli giving a shout out to his peeps, his friends and fam who have kept his overwhelmed parents in check and his big ol' stomach full. Thank you all so much, we love you.

10/4/10 - Eli's Birthday

Imagine some strobe lights, maybe some baby cheerleaders, and the Chicago Bulls intro song playing in the background...

AND NOW!
From Nooorthern Colorado
A free agent signing with team Kraayenbrink on October 4th, 2010
Crushing the scales with his 8 lb frame!
Towering over the world atop his 20 inch pedestal!
ELI! JONAS! KRRRRAAYENBRINK BRINK BRINK BRINK BRINK

Loud cheers from the team Kraayenbrink crowd.

As I'm sure you've gathered, Eli's finally here! 10 fingers and toes, all parts intact. The 41 week wait is over and the little boy is relaxing comfortably in his crib. Mom and dad are not resting quite so comfortably, but we couldn't be happier. We are enjoying this time as much as we possibly can.

Eli had his second visit to the pediatrician today and he has gained one ounce from his birth-weight. He's sleeping, pooping, peeing, and doing all the things little baby boys do. We've accidentally discovered the fountain of youth (a side-effect of diaper changing), and he had a pretty good time dousing the nurse during his doctor's visit today. All-in-all, Eli is one healthy little dude.

It all still seems a bit surreal, but you realize how much you really love him when you start driving the minivan 15 miles below the speed limit. Your eyes snap open every time you hear a peep on the baby monitor. You hold a mirror to his face to make sure he's breathing. You yell at your wife to come look every time he makes a funny face. And you'd do absolutely anything for him. It's safe to say he's a welcome addition to our family and we couldn't be more thankful that God has blessed us so greatly. Let's hope we're still saying that when he's 18... oh we will.
